Covering the gaming world with hot scoops since 1889!

Submissions

To Prospective Authors:

The Imaginary Game News Network is always seeking imaginary game news from sources around the globe. We are looking for humorous, entirely fictional stories with some connection to the video and computer game industry, fans, media and related activities. The tone of IGNN is intended to mimic a variety of media presentations from standard AP style to personal observations. Imaginary news stories, interviews, reviews, opinions and other features must be submitted for consideration to:

contact@imaginarygamenews.com

Please follow the submission guidelines noted below. Submissions that don’t follow the guidelines will be rejected by the editors. We will attempt to comment on submissions so that authors have a chance to resubmit their stories in an acceptable form, but we make no promise that all or any submissions will be accepted or commented upon.

Submission Guidelines

No Attacks

We will accept no submissions in which a real person or business is held up to ridicule in a manner that attacks his or her character or the character of a company’s employees.

Public Figures

When referring to actual persons, please name only public figures. Gaming personalities who are highly visible in the media can be said to be public figures. Public figures are not only highly visible, they make personal statements and give their own opinions. Spokespersons, although often named in real news stories, are not necessarily public figures and should not be named in IGNN’s fake news stories. Instead, we recommend creating fictional characters for all references to people other than public figures, and please check to see if your fictional creation resembles any living person. Google, Yahoo! and Bing can aid your effort greatly in this matter.

Businesses and Products

Since the Imaginary Game News Network covers only imaginary events, many of the businesses and products mentioned in IGNN’s content are fictitious. You may refer to actual companies, particularly large ones, and to their products, as long as you don’t imply any endorsement or make overt criticisms of the company or product. IGNN will not promote one manufacturer or product or genre over any other.

Reviews

There are literally hundreds of publications and Internet sites that review actual games. IGNN does not. All review submissions should focus on fictitious products.

Art and Photography

IGNN is aware of the rampant use of unlicensed graphics that intentionally or unwittingly appear on many web sites. To avoid any licensing or copyright issues, IGNN uses copyright free images or produces its own graphic assets for use in the site contents. If you are interested in submitting original works of art or photography, please contact us.

Payment

IGNN does not buy stories. We will publish your name in the By Line if requested, and we will be happy to add your web site or blog to our links page.
